MakingStarWars.net has a rumor for us regarding a new villain that appears in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Apparently, this new character is being described as an older male wearing a regal white cape with a slit down the back. He appears to be a heavy hitter with the Imperials.

Now, what I find interesting is that just a week or so ago we heard rumors of another character making a comeback on Star Wars: Rebels. A character that was particularly fond of white garb as well…And had blue skin.

While this is pure conjecture on my part, it sounds like we might just see a certain popular Grand Admiral after all…one that was thought to have been relegated to the trash heaps of the EU/Legends quadrant of the Galaxy. Yes…THAT Grand Admiral…Thrawn himself. So, if they are indeed bringing in the notorious Grand Admiral Thrawn for Rebels, it stands to reason we might see a crossover with the character in Rogue One, since the two take place within a similar timeframe.

While I’m not overly fond of the EU material, I do like the character of Thrawn and I think it would be a very cool nod to the older EU books. So I say bring it.

Of course, there’s always the likelihood this character is simply an admiral or high-ranking Imperial officer, like Wullf Yularen (pictured) or an entirely new character altogether. While not as cool as turning out to be Thrawn, this is probably the most likely scenario.
